UOP Propylene Recovery Unit
Today, propylene recovery from refinery streams is being increasingly
used to supply downstream users with polymer-grade propylene for petrochemical
applications. To meet polymer-grade specifications, the stream must
be concentrated to a minimum of 99.5 % propylene and be essentially
free of di-olefins and acetylenic species.
To allow you to recover polymer-grade propylene as economically as possible,
a UOP Propylene Recovery Unit (PRU) combines proprietary UOP process equipment
such as MD distillation trays and High Flux tubing with propylene treating
adsorbents.
Approximately 33% of world propylene production is currently contained in FCC
and RCC by-product streams. The UOP PRU system gives you the opportunity to
cost-effectively upgrade low-value C3/C4 by-product by recovering high-value
polymer-grade propylene. You can also use the PRU system to upgrade existing
refinery-grade and chemical-grade propylene to polymer-grade propylene.
